I have been thinking about the teaching today, which was excellent. The point was "all sin can fall into one of two categories. 1) Your sin. 2) My sin.
So we tend to be spiritually blind when it comes to our own sin. Or we struggle with spiritual amnesia and forget that we have any area of sin. Or perhaps we rationalize our sin. For example while others have "anger issues" we "let off steam", others "lie", we find it necessary to varnish the truth or exaggerate.
Romans 2:1 states "You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things."
Understood. But we also can't let our non-judgmentalism be an excuse for continuing in our own sin. "I don't judge others for their sin and I don't want anyone judging me for mine."
So where's the balance in biblical reproof, "fruit inspecting", discipling (or disciplining), chastising, or giving any other instruction when we see someone stray? How do we not judge and yet follow James 5:19-20? "My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, 20let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins."
Is it better to ignore it in order to avoid the possibility of appearing as judge?

I think it depends on our motive and the moving of Gods Spirit upon us in these times. It also depends on the person and their attitude. If a person is truly questioning their life and the situations they find themselves in and its obvious they are receptive to direction supplied to you by the word of God them I think we must proceed in that. However, If the person is unrepentant and lacks a sincere heart for change or even defensive then I think we leave them alone until God soften them (positions them) with a receptive spirit. We keep an eye on the situation from a distance until God does His work. If God has made us aware and has put a burden upon us then He will most likely use us in this situation. We just need to pray and be sensitive to Gods leading.
